Jogjakarta is not merely a place I visited. It is a place that welcomed me, taught me, and quietly claimed a permanent space in my heart. This book, Jogjakarta; from Keraton to Borobudur, is a reflection of that bond, woven from personal encounters, cultural discoveries, and moments that felt unmistakably like coming home. It was during my lectures at STIE Widya Wiwaha that my bond with Jogjakarta truly deepened, and the campus soon felt like a second home. Within its classrooms and corridors, I experienced the warmth of academic exchange, mutual respect, and the sincere hospitality that defines Jogjakarta’s spirit. Teaching and learning there was never confined to theory alone; it was enriched by conversations, shared meals, and the unspoken understanding that knowledge grows best where humility and kindness coexist. Jogjakarta stays in my heart because it offers more than experiences. It offers connection. It is found in its people, its traditions, its resilience, and its gentle way of reminding us what it means to live with balance and meaning. This book is my tribute to a city that feels less like a destination and more like a lasting companion, guiding me from the royal heart of the Keraton to the timeless serenity of Borobudur. Throughout this book, we use the term “Jogja” instead of “Jogjakarta,” as it is the name most commonly used and widely accepted by locals, visitors, and the broader Indonesian community.
